The Kenya School of Government (KSG) has launched the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga Regional Leadership and Governance Academy, marking a significant milestone in the institution's centenary celebrations and reinforcing its commitment to nurturing transformational leadership and strengthening public governance across Kenya and the region.

The launch, presided over by Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes Geoffrey Ruku, forms part of KSG's 100-year legacy of developing competent public servants and promoting excellence in governance.

The new academy is expected to serve as a centre of excellence for leadership development, policy dialogue, governance research, and executive training, drawing inspiration from the public service and leadership journey of the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga.

Speaking during the launch, Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku said the academy will stand as a lasting tribute to one of Kenya's most distinguished statesmen.

"The Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga Regional Leadership and Governance Academy is a facility that will embody the leadership spirit, vision and aspirations of the Right Honorable Raila Amolo Odinga as one of Kenya's most remarkable leadership journeys ever undertaken."

The academy is envisioned as a platform for nurturing ethical, visionary, and transformative leaders capable of responding to emerging governance challenges while advancing inclusive development across the region.

Its establishment underscores the Kenya School of Government's evolving role as a premier institution for public sector capacity building, leadership training, and governance innovation.

Through executive education, research, and knowledge exchange, the academy is expected to contribute to strengthening institutions and promoting evidence-based policymaking in Kenya and beyond.

The launch also highlighted KSG's century-long contribution to building a professional public service through leadership development, public administration training, and continuous capacity building for government officers at both national and county levels.

As the institution concludes its centenary celebrations, the unveiling of the Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga Regional Leadership and Governance Academy signals a renewed commitment to investing in the next generation of public leaders while preserving the values of visionary leadership, service, and good governance that have shaped Kenya's development over the past century.

The academy is expected to become a regional hub for leadership excellence, fostering collaboration among policymakers, public servants, scholars, and development practitioners as they work towards building responsive, accountable, and citizen-centred governance systems across Africa.
