Lamu County witnessed a transformative healthcare initiative as thousands of residents from Hindi and surrounding areas received free medical services during a large-scale outreach program.
The event, organized through a partnership between the Lamu County Government, Safaricom Foundation, M-PESA Foundation, and Zuri Health, brought comprehensive care to communities with limited access to medical facilities.
Governor Issa Timamy joined residents in receiving a routine health check-up during the camp.
Lamu County Government explained that the initiative provided critical services including general medical consultations, dental care, eye examinations, pediatric services, gynaecological care, cervical cancer screenings, and free medication distribution.
Special attention was given to vulnerable groups, including elderly citizens, children, and expectant mothers.
The Governor emphasized the county's dedication to bridging healthcare gaps in remote regions, highlighting collaborative efforts with development partners to ensure no resident is denied care due to geographical or financial constraints.
His administration's participation demonstrated the importance of preventive healthcare and regular medical screenings.
Deputy Governor Designate and Health CECM Dr. Mbarak Bahjaj joined other county officials in overseeing the operations, which health professionals described as a benchmark for effective public-private partnerships in healthcare delivery.
